Remote monitoring
Compatible smart controls can let you monitor temperatures, schedules and system performance from your phone or tablet.
Renewable heating · Belper & Derbyshire
We provide heat pump surveys, system advice and installation support across Belper and Derbyshire. The starting point is always the property: heat loss, insulation, radiators or underfloor heating, hot-water demand, controls and suitable outdoor space.
Why consider a heat pump?
A correctly designed heat pump operates differently from a conventional boiler. It is normally happiest running for longer periods at lower flow temperatures, which is why the design of the complete heating system matters.
Compatible smart controls can let you monitor temperatures, schedules and system performance from your phone or tablet.
With correct design and regular maintenance, modern heat pumps can provide many years of dependable heating.
Heat is collected from the outside air and upgraded for use inside the home, reducing direct reliance on fossil fuels.
Heat pumps can deliver several units of heat for each unit of electricity used, but real running costs depend heavily on system design and the property.
Free heat pump survey
A useful survey is more than measuring a wall for an outdoor unit. We look at the size and layout of the property, insulation, existing heating system, pipework, radiators, hot-water demand and possible cylinder location.
Property size, construction, insulation and likely heat loss.
Existing radiators, underfloor heating, pipework and current boiler/system.
Hot-water demand, cylinder space and household usage.
Outdoor-unit position, airflow, noise considerations and installation access.
Likely upgrades, grant route, controls and sensible next steps.
The outdoor unit is only one part of the job. Heat emitters, controls, hot water and flow temperatures all influence comfort and efficiency.
The process
We keep the process understandable and explain any changes your existing system may need before major work begins.
Assess the property, current system and your heating and hot-water requirements.
Establish the likely heat demand and suitable operating temperatures.
Consider emitters, cylinder, controls, pipework and outdoor-unit location.
Complete the agreed heating-system upgrades and heat-pump installation route.
Set controls, confirm operation and explain how to get the best from the system.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme
The current Boiler Upgrade Scheme provides support towards eligible low-carbon heating installations in England and Wales. Standard air-to-water heat pump grants are currently £7,500, with higher support of £9,000 available in certain off-gas properties replacing oil or LPG heating.
Property owners can qualify, including eligible landlords and businesses.
The scheme is installer-led and grant-funded installations must meet current scheme and certification requirements.
Hybrid gas-boiler and heat-pump systems are not eligible for the standard BUS grant.
Grant values and eligibility can change. We will confirm the current position at survey stage. Official scheme information: GOV.UK Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
Qualifying residential installations
Air source and ground source heat pumps installed in residential accommodation are currently included in the UK’s 0% VAT relief for qualifying energy-saving materials. The relief is scheduled to run until 31 March 2027, subject to the installation meeting the qualifying rules.
We will confirm the VAT treatment for your individual installation before quotation.
Underfloor heating can be an excellent partner for a heat pump. Existing radiators can also work well when correctly sized for the chosen flow temperature.
Is your home ready?
A well-understood heat loss allows the system to be sized realistically rather than relying on guesswork.
Some existing radiators may be suitable; others may need increasing in output for lower flow temperatures.
Most air-to-water systems require a suitable cylinder, with space and household demand considered during survey.
The electrical requirements, controls and any necessary upgrades should be identified as part of the design.
Heat pump questions
Heat pumps are not a one-size-fits-all replacement for a boiler. The right answer depends on the building and the heating system it needs.
Modern heat pumps are designed to work in cold conditions. The key is correct sizing, suitable heat emitters and controls that allow the system to run efficiently at lower temperatures.
No. Each room should be assessed. Some existing radiators may already have enough output; others may need to be larger to deliver the required heat at a lower flow temperature.
Running costs depend on electricity tariffs, system efficiency, flow temperature, insulation and how the home is used. A survey and proper design are more useful than blanket savings claims.
Many property owners replacing eligible fossil-fuel systems can qualify, but scheme rules apply. The current standard grant for an eligible air-to-water heat pump is £7,500, with certain off-gas oil/LPG replacements currently eligible for £9,000.
Qualifying installed heat pumps in residential accommodation are currently zero-rated for VAT under the energy-saving materials relief through 31 March 2027.
